Ernie Maxwell in Idylwild, California

Ernie Maxwell is a nice, shaded, and fairly even 5 mile trail with some wonderful views of Suicide and Tawhutah Rock which are both popular with rock climbers and repellers. I'm pretty sure I repelled off suicide rock when I was a teenager.

The only negatives about this hike was that the park was difficult to get to and the trail does narrows enough that only allow one person.

While I went on the path at Humber Park and came back the same way, I assume if you took it backwards and didn't start in Humber Park you could hike in and then choose a trail like the Devil's slide. I'll have to checkout my ideas later.

The only negative is that it is hard to find. It is in an area called "Humber Park" which is just a couple of parking spots.

The hike was organized by the "The Palm Springs;Morongo Valley,Yucca & JT Gentle Hiking" a group in the high desert that focuses on beginner and intermediate hikes.
